Why do my fight sounds feel flat?
One layer. A film impact is a flat slap for the body plus a bright crack for the style, and asking for both in the same prompt is what separates it from somebody hitting a cushion.
How many whooshes does a fight need?
More than hits. Most of a fight is movement that does not connect, and the whooshes are what make it look fast. Editors new to this usually cut in far too few.
How is this different from the punch page?
That page is a realistic impact. This is the stylised film version, deliberately exaggerated, and it includes the misses, the cloth, and the shout that a realistic punch page does not.
Why does my flurry sound like gunfire?
The spacing is perfectly even. Ask for slightly uneven spacing between the impacts, since a person throwing strikes never lands them on a fixed interval.
Where should the shout go?
On the contact frame, with the hit rather than before it. A shout that leads the impact reads as dubbing, where one that lands together reads as effort.
