What makes a reaction read as genuine?
A delay. Real reactions arrive a beat after the thing that caused them and change shape while they happen. Prompt for the pause explicitly, and for the expression to move between two states, rather than asking for a single held emotion.
Why do the prompts keep the screens blank?
Because the thing being reacted to usually belongs to somebody else. Keeping every screen blank or abstract means the clip stays clear for commercial use, and it also focuses the shot on the face, which is what the format is actually about.
Which reaction beats generate most reliably?
Gestures render very well: hands to the face, leaning back, standing up, turning away. Long held expressions on a tight face are harder, and a group all doing something different is hardest. Cover a sequence with two gesture beats and one close-up.
How do I time a reaction to my own footage?
Generate the reaction longer than you need and trim into it on Compose, so you can slide the cut point until the beat lands. Place the reaction one or two frames after the moment rather than exactly on it, which is how the timing reads on real footage.
