Write a micro-drama series
Plan a season of short cliffhanger episodes with Copilot, write each as a screenplay, adapt an existing series, and review the scripts.
A micro-drama is a series of very short episodes, usually one to three minutes and often vertical, each ending on a cliffhanger. Copilot plans the season, writes each episode as a screenplay, and reviews the scripts. It does this on its own whenever you ask for a micro-drama, vertical drama or short series, in any screen ratio.
Copilot waits for your approval at each stage: season plan, then episode outlines, then screenplays.
Plan a season
-
In Copilot, describe the series and ask for a season plan. To build on a scene you wrote, open its screenplay first so it is attached. For example:
Plan a 30-episode vertical micro-drama in Hindi. A night-shift nurse finds out her new patient is the father who left when she was a child. Family drama with a romance, 90-second episodes, first 8 free. -
Copilot asks for anything you left out, in a short form. Pick an answer, type your own under 'Other', or click 'Skip', then 'Submit':
- Season format: number of episodes, episode length, screen ratio and how many are free before a paywall
- Genre
- Market and script language
-
Copilot plans the season, which takes a few minutes
-
Ask for changes, then ask Copilot to develop the episode outlines
You decide the season format. Anything you leave open, Copilot suggests from your story and asks you to confirm; say 'you decide' to skip the question. A season needs at least one reveal every six episodes, so a thin premise gets a shorter season offered instead.
The plan arrives as files in the chat:
| File | What it holds |
|---|---|
| season-overview.md | The season at a glance. Start here |
| season-grid.csv | One row per episode: its beats and how it ends |
| bible.md | The series bible: characters, how each one speaks, the rules of the world |
| canon.md | Story facts established so far |
| canon-sensitive.md | Twists and secrets, kept apart so no episode gives one away early |
Files stay in the chat until you ask Copilot to save them to your assets.
Write the episodes
Once the outlines are approved, ask Copilot to write the episodes. Each is its own Fountain screenplay file, such as ep-01.fountain, written in order, up to five at a time.
- Every episode opens with a hook in the first 10 seconds and ends on a cliffhanger
- About 130 words per minute of screen time, with one or two short sentences per line of dialogue
- Staging suits the frame: close two-person scenes in 9:16, rooms and crowds in 16:9
- To name the writing model, include it in your request
- To edit an episode in the screenplay editor, ask Copilot to save it to your assets, then add it to the Canvas
When you set a rule for the whole series, such as a name's spelling, Copilot offers to save it to the project's memory.
Languages
Copilot writes directly in the chosen language, not through English. Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali and English are supported, and you can ask for others.
- Indian languages use their own script, such as Devanagari for Hindi
- Hinglish uses Latin letters and mixes Hindi and English the way people speak
- Scene headings and character names stay in Latin capitals, so the file still works as a screenplay
- Download episodes in an Indian script as Fountain or Final Draft. The PDF can't print those characters
Adapt an existing series
Bring a long series, even hundreds of episodes, and Copilot restructures it into a micro-drama season, keeping the characters, their motives and relationships.
- Attach the source episodes or chapters and ask Copilot to adapt them
- It reads them in batches of 10 and marks each source episode to keep, compress, merge or cut
- It proposes the main storylines, the source range and the cuts. Nothing is planned until you confirm
- It writes adaptation-plan.md: what was kept, compressed, merged or cut and why, and where each character enters and leaves
- The season grid lists the source episodes behind each new episode. Continue as for any season
Review the scripts
Ask Copilot to review a script, an outline or the season. It reports and changes nothing until you choose fixes.
- Checks structure, pacing, dialogue, continuity, hooks, cliffhangers, the paywall moment, formatting and subtitles
- Scores each hook and cliffhanger from 1 to 5
- Names the episode, scene and line for each finding, with a suggested fix
- Makes accepted fixes in one revision, then reviews again
For a translated season, ask for a translation review. It checks drifting names and terms, untranslated lines, mismatched numbers and subtitle reading speed, then tone, forms of address and whether each hook still lands. Without a glossary for the series, Copilot builds one first for you to confirm.
Troubleshooting
Plan comes back with no files
"The season-planning attempt produced no files" means the plan failed. Reply yes when Copilot offers to retry; your season choices are kept.
