Questions fréquentes

How do I draw rain so it does not look like scratches?
Keep every stroke at the same angle and the same length, and draw far fewer lines than you think you need. Break them so they do not run the full height of the page, and leave the area around a light source empty.
How do I draw puddles and reflections?
A reflection is the same shape flipped down, drawn softer and darker, broken by horizontal gaps. Keep the vertical edges of the reflection wobbly and leave a thin bright line where the puddle meets the ground.
What makes a good rainy season drawing for a school competition?
One clear story told simply: children under umbrellas, a flooded lane, a farmer in a paddy field. Keep the palette to greys and greens with two bright umbrellas, and leave the top third to sky so the scene can breathe.
How do I show a wet surface?
Wet ground is darker than dry ground and holds sharper highlights. Ask for a darker road tone with a few long white streaks pulled along it, and keep the dry patches under shelters lighter so the contrast reads.
Which colours suit a monsoon scene?
Grey-green, slate blue and a warm earth tone for wet ground, then one or two saturated accents such as an umbrella or a sari. Too many bright colours and the drawing stops reading as rain.
Can I make the drawing move?
Send the finished frame to Image to Video and ask for falling rain and slow ripples on the puddle while the rest stays still. It works well as a title card for a school presentation.
