Questions fréquentes

How do I draw a sloth hanging from a branch?
The claws do the work, so draw the hooks first and build the body beneath them. The forelimbs are much longer than the hind limbs and stay almost straight, and the body hangs as one heavy curve. Naming the claw grip and the limb length difference fixes most hanging poses.
How do I draw sloth fur?
Sloth hair grows away from the belly toward the back, which is the opposite of most mammals, so when it hangs upside down the coat falls in neat downward strands. Ask for long directional strands rather than short soft fur and the texture reads correctly.
How do I draw a cute sloth?
Enlarge the head, round the body, shorten the limbs and set the eyes low and wide apart. Closed crescent eyes and a small upturned mouth give the sleepy expression people search for. Ask for a thick even outline and flat fill to keep it simple.
What is the difference between a two-toed and a three-toed sloth?
The three-toed has three claws on each forelimb, a rounder face with a pale mask and dark eye stripes, and a short stubby tail. The two-toed has two claws, a longer pig-like snout and no facial mask. Say which one you want and the face changes accordingly.
How do I draw a sloth face?
Start from a wide circle, set the eyes low and far apart, and place the small nose close under them. The dark patches around the eyes and the paler band across the muzzle are what read as a sloth, so ask for those explicitly.
Can I keep a set of animal drawings in one style?
Use Style Transfer. Lock the look of your first sloth, then apply it while you generate other animals so the line weight, fur treatment and palette stay consistent across the whole set.
