Break a silence with one small sound
A trap snap is instant and resolves, so it lands hard in a quiet scene that scratching has been building underneath.

Mouse sound effects
Scratching inside a wall, gnawing at wood, and the squeaks people can actually hear. Most mouse calls are ultrasonic, so these are what a scene needs.
- Ask for scratching, gnawing, or the squeaks you can hear
- A sound made for your wall cavity, not a shared stock clip
- Clean audio small enough to unsettle quietly
Mouse sounds for film, games, and horror edits
Scratching in a wall
0:05Light rapid scraping with brief pauses, inside a hollow space. This is what people mean when they say they have mice.
Gnawing
0:05A dry rhythmic rasp of tiny teeth on wood. Close and persistent, and far more unsettling than any squeak.
Squeak
0:03Thin, short, and slightly wavering. Only part of a mouse's range is audible, and this is the part that is.
Scurrying
0:04Light rapid patter crossing and stopping dead. The abrupt stop is what makes it read as an animal rather than a texture.
Nest rustling
0:05Paper and dry material shifting continuously. It says a nest rather than a passing animal, which is a worse thing to hear.
Trap snap
0:02A hard spring snap on wood. One event, over instantly, and it resolves a scene that scratching has been building.

Ways to use mouse sound effects
Let gnawing hold a quiet room
A steady dry rasp gives a still interior something to sit under and never fights a line, while quietly making it worse.
Modifier le prompt
Say the building is not maintained
Scratching inside a cavity places a scene in a house nobody is looking after, and it does it without any dialogue.
Modifier le prompt
Put something living behind the plaster
Nest rustling tells the audience there is more than one animal in there, in a shot where the wall never opens.

Questions fréquentes
What sounds do mice make?
Squeaks, chatters, and a great deal of ultrasonic calling that people cannot hear at all. In practice what identifies mice in a room is the movement: scratching inside walls, gnawing at wood, and light feet crossing a floor.
Can you hear mice squeaking?
Only partly. Much of their vocal range sits above human hearing, so the audible squeaks are the thin edge of a much larger repertoire. That is why scratching and gnawing do more for a scene than squeaks do.
How do I make a room feel infested?
Use nest rustling rather than more scratching. Shredded material shifting continuously reads as several animals living in a space, whereas scratching reads as one passing through, and the difference matters a great deal in a scene.
Why does gnawing work so well in horror?
Because it is steady and purposeful. Scratching is intermittent and can be dismissed, while a persistent dry rasp implies something is working at the structure of the building, and it never resolves on its own.
How do I make scurrying sound like an animal?
Ask for it to stop abruptly. Real animals move in short bursts and freeze, so a continuous patter reads as a texture, whereas a burst that ends dead reads as something that has just noticed you.
Can I use these mouse sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each one is generated rather than pulled from a shared catalogue, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's scene.
