Fill a quiet beat with an idle scratch
A few strokes on stubble make a silent shot feel lived in without any music, in a sitcom, a vlog or an animated short.

Set a tense classroom
Slow chalk on slate puts the audience on edge before anyone speaks, in a horror scene, a school drama or a game level.

Questions fréquentes
What is a scratch sound effect?
It is any rubbing or scraping of a hard point over a surface: a nail on wood, a stylus on vinyl, fingers on stubble. The word covers many sounds, so the surface you name decides what you get.
Where can I get scratch sounds for a video?
Say which surface you need and generate it. That is faster than sorting through a general scrape pack, and every sound here was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can reuse and tweak it.
How do I make a custom scratch sound?
Pair a tool with a surface and a rhythm, for example "a coin scratching silver coating off a card, six quick gritty strokes". Swap the surface or the stroke count to change it.
What is the difference between a record scratch and a nail scratch?
A record scratch is a rhythmic, pitched chirp made by moving vinyl under a stylus. A nail scratch is an unpitched dry scrape. The first signals a stop or a stunt, the second signals nerves or texture.
Can I use these scratch sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. A scrape generated for your project is also unlikely to match one already used elsewhere.
Why does my scratch sound too loud?
High thin scrapes cut through a mix. Ask for a duller, closer rasp, or lower the clip and keep it under dialogue so it reads as texture instead of an alarm.
