Make an exit land the second it happens
Cut the snappy whoosh to the frame a character bolts and the departure becomes a beat. It holds up in short-form video, a cutscene, or a hand-drawn gag.

Zip
The fast rising whoosh a cartoon character makes bolting out of frame. Describe the zip your edit needs, from a snappy dart-off to a slide-whistle glide, and drop it clean on the cut.
- Describe the sweep and how it ends, and the whoosh comes back shaped that way
- A zip cut for your gag, not the same library whoosh a hundred channels already use
- Clean audio that lands on the cut in any editor or game engine
Zip sounds for animation, games, and video edits
Classic zip
The fast dart-off everybody knows. One sharp whoosh, quick rise, snapping to a short tail, for the instant a character bolts clean out of frame.
Zip away
The exit take, where the whoosh shoots up and thins into nothing. Use it when a character leaves the shot rather than crosses it, so the sound trails off the edge.
Whoosh by
A pass-by that rises then falls as it rushes through frame. The quick pitch bend is what sells motion crossing left to right with nobody ever landing.
Slide-whistle zip
The silly one. A slide-whistle glide that climbs and stops short, cartoonier than a straight whoosh, for a scene playing broad rather than snappy.
Double zip
Two fast whooshes back to back, the second pitched a touch higher. It covers a character darting one way then the other in a single take.
Zip stop
A rush upward that dies on a tiny plink. The abrupt ending is the joke, for someone who bolts and then freezes in mid-air.

Ways to use a zip sound effect
Carry the eye from one shot to the next
A quick sweep bridges two clips where a music sting would land too heavy. It doubles as a transition in a montage, a slideshow, or a game menu.

When the whole piece should feel light on its feet
The slide-whistle glide signals that nothing here is meant seriously. Spread a few across an explainer, a party game, or a podcast bumper and the tone sets itself.

Something rushes by that you never animated
Play the vanishing whoosh over a reaction shot and the audience sees a blur that was never drawn. It stands in for a motion pass the budget could not cover.

Questions fréquentes
What is a zip sound effect?
It is the fast rising whoosh a cartoon uses when a character darts off, dodges, or streaks across the frame. It usually has a sharp attack and a quick upward pitch sweep, and it turns a plain movement on screen into a snappy comic beat the audience reads instantly.
Where can I get a zip sound for a video?
Generate one rather than search for it. Describing the whoosh you want takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact sweep your edit needs instead of the closest available clip. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom zip sound effect?
Describe the attack, the direction of the pitch sweep, and how the whoosh ends, then generate it. A prompt like "a cartoon zip with a sharp attack and a fast rising sweep, snapping to a quick tail" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until the timing fits your cut.
What is the difference between a zip and a whoosh?
A whoosh is the broader family of air-movement sounds, while a zip is the fast, cartoony end of it: shorter, higher, and usually with a rising pitch sweep that a realistic whoosh does not have. If a plain whoosh feels too heavy for a comic moment, a zip is the tighter, snappier version to reach for.
Can I use these zip sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated rather than pulled from a shared library, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my zip sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually it is timing rather than the sound itself. A zip has to start a frame or two before the character actually moves, so the ear leads the eye into the motion. Generate a version with a sharp attack and slide it slightly ahead of the movement, and it locks to the picture far more often.
