How do I find a drawing idea when I am stuck?
Pick a constraint rather than a subject: one light source, one unbroken line, or something within arm of your desk. A key, a folded cloth or a shoe all give you edges and shadow without needing any imagination to start.
What is a good drawing idea for practising shading?
A creased sheet of paper. Every fold is a flat plane facing a different way, so you can only get it right by reading the light, and there is no outline to hide behind.
How do I draw a lightbulb as an idea symbol?
Keep the glass as one contour and put the detail in the filament, then add three short rays around the top. Asking for a thin even line and no shading gives you something that still reads at icon size.
How do I plan a drawing before I commit to it?
Work in thumbnails. Generate six small versions at different crops and angles, lay them out on the Canvas and pick the composition, then regenerate that one at full size with the medium you actually want.
What makes a drawing idea worth finishing?
Usually a clear light direction and one point of interest. If the idea has neither, it stays a doodle. Adding a strong shadow or cropping in tighter is often enough to turn a flat idea into a drawing.
