What makes a moth drawing read as a moth and not a butterfly?
Three things. Moths have feathered or comb-like antennae rather than clubbed ones, a thicker furred body, and they rest with the wings held flat or roofed over the back instead of upright. Name any two and the insect reads correctly.
How do I draw a moth symmetrically?
Draw one wing well, then mirror it. Ask for a perfectly symmetrical specimen layout with a clear central body axis, which is how entomological plates are set out. On the Canvas you can nudge the halves until the match is exact.
How do I draw moth wing patterns?
