A pen sketch is a drawing made with a pen, such as a ballpoint, a fineliner, a gel pen or a fountain pen. Because ink cannot be erased, the drawing is built from confident lines and layers of hatching.
How do I shade with a pen?
Use hatching, which is rows of parallel lines, and crosshatching, which adds a second set across the first. Stippling with dots gives a softer tone. More layers make darker areas.
