How do I draw scissors step by step?
Draw the pivot screw first and build outward from it. Each blade and its handle is one continuous piece running through that point, so placing the pivot before anything else keeps the two halves from drifting apart.
Why do my scissors look wrong?
Usually because the blades touch without crossing. At the pivot one blade sits in front of the other and stays in front all the way to the tip. Say that in the prompt and the shape reads correctly straight away.
How do I draw the steel so it looks like metal?
Metal is about contrast, not grey. Ask for a hard bright line along the cutting edge, a dark reflection in the middle of the blade, and very little tone in between. Stipple and charcoal both handle it well.
How do I get a scissors icon for a cut line?
Ask for a flat outline in one even stroke beside a dashed line, no shading, on flat white. Keep the handles as simple loops so the shape stays readable when it is printed small on a coupon or a craft sheet.
