What should I draw when I only have a small space?
Pick something with one clear silhouette: a cup, a leaf, a key, a little house, a cat curled up. Anything that needs internal detail to be recognised will turn to mush once it is an inch across.
How do I stop a small drawing looking cluttered?
Cut the shading first. At small sizes tone closes up into a grey blob, so ask for line only, an even weight and no hatching. Leaving most of the paper empty around the drawing is what makes it read as deliberate.
What are good small drawings for kids?
Shapes they can finish in a minute: a star, a fish, a flower, a paper plane, a smiling cloud. Ask for a thick even outline and no detail inside, which is both easier to copy and easier to colour in afterwards.
How do I fill a sketchbook page with small drawings?
Ask for a grid rather than a scatter to begin with, since even spacing is hard to judge by eye. Once you have nine or a dozen, you can move them around on the Canvas until the page feels loose again.
