How do I draw a starfish that does not look like a flat star?
Two changes do it. Make the arms taper and round at the tips rather than come to points, and curl one or two arms slightly up or under so the body has volume. Ask for a raised centre with the arms sloping away from it and the shape stops reading as a symbol.
How do I draw starfish texture?
The top surface is covered in small raised bumps that follow the length of each arm. Stipple or short dashes work better than crosshatching. Ask for bump density heaviest along the arm centre line and fading toward the edges so the texture follows the form.
How many arms should a starfish have?
Five is standard and is what most searchers expect, but real species range from four to over forty. If you want something unusual, name the count directly, such as a seven-armed starfish, rather than leaving it open.
