Crowd sound effects

Rooms of people talking, reacting, laughing, and scattering. Describe how many voices there are and what they are doing, and Morphic builds the group your shot needs.

  • Set how many people there are and what the group is doing with its voices
  • A group built for your location instead of the same busy room a hundred videos share
  • Long clean takes you can lay under a whole scene and cut inside

Crowd sounds for film, games, and animation

Overlapping conversation

Dozens of voices at ordinary talking effort with no single one on top. The most useful bed on the page, because it fits any room where people are present and nothing is happening yet.

Collective intake

Everybody breathing in at once, then nothing. Two seconds of shared silence after a group gasp does more for a reveal than any amount of noise placed on top of it.

Laughter across a group

A few people going first and the rest catching up. That half-second of spread is what separates a real room from a canned laugh track, which arrives all at once.

Panic and running feet

Voices breaking apart with shoes hitting hard flooring underneath them. The footsteps are what turn alarm into movement, since voices alone leave everybody standing where they were.

Murmur rising and settling

A quiet hum of voices swelling as the group reacts to something, then dropping back. The shape is the point, because it charts a change the audience can hear happening.

Voices through a wall

The same mass with the top end taken off and a faint echo behind. The high frequencies are what carry presence, so removing them moves the group somewhere else entirely.

Ways to use crowd sound effects

Mark the second everyone notices

A shared intake of breath lands the moment and leaves silence after it. It reads the same in a game cutscene, an animated hall, or a documentary reconstruction.

Keep a busy scene alive with no track under it

Fifteen seconds of overlapping talk carries a whole sequence by itself. Reach for it when a music bed would flatten dialogue you actually want people to hear.

Show the mood of a room changing

A murmur that swells and settles tells the audience the group has reacted to something. It works under a podcast reconstruction as clearly as under picture.

Fill a space beyond the door you never open

A dulled mass with a faint echo puts a hundred people on the other side of a wall. Nothing has to be cast, dressed, or rendered for the audience to accept them.

よくある質問

How do I make a crowd sound effect?
Describe the individual voices and let the group assemble itself. A prompt reading dozens of adult voices talking over one another, words never distinct returns a real room, while the word crowd returns a vague texture that never quite settles into people.
How do I make a crowd sound like the right number of people?
State the count and the effort separately. Ten voices at ordinary talking level and a hundred at the same level are different sounds, not the same sound at different volumes, because a larger group fills the gaps between voices until no individual one is audible any more.
Why does my crowd sound fake even at the right volume?
Usually because everything in it happens at the same instant. Real groups are ragged: people start laughing at slightly different moments and stop at different ones. Asking for that spread in the prompt is what separates a room of people from a single sound stretched out.
How do I put a crowd behind a wall or a door?
Remove the high frequencies rather than the level. Ask for the high edge gone, the tone dulled, and a faint short echo behind it. That is what an audience hears as a barrier, while the same recording played quietly just sounds like a small crowd standing right next to the microphone.
How long should a crowd bed be?
Long enough to cut inside without repeating. Twelve to fifteen seconds gives you room to place two or three edits before the ear starts recognising the same voices coming round again, which is the single most common way a background of people gives itself away.
Can I use generated crowd sound effects commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. A generated group also sidesteps the problem with recording a real one, where a public space hands you named people, passing traffic, and music playing somewhere you cannot licence.
