Make the moment the rope snaps hit hard
A taut rope snapping on the frame it gives way turns a fall into a shock, in an action film, a climbing game or an animated adventure.

Rope
A coil of rope thumping onto boards, fibres stretching under load and a taut line snapping. Describe the rope your scene needs and Morphic generates it clean.

- Pulled to fit the climbing wall or the ship rigging in your shot
- Clean, isolated audio to drop under the coil, the knot or the snap
Rope sounds for games, animation, and video edits
Rope coil dropped
A heavy coil landing and slithering to rest, for docks, climbing gear being unpacked or a sailor making ready.
Rope under strain
Fibres stretching and crackling as rope takes the weight, for climbs, tug of war, rescues and a load hanging by a thread.
Taut rope snapping
A tight rope breaking with a crack and a whip of loose ends, for falls, broken rigging and the moment a hold gives way.
Rope cut clean
A blade slicing through tight rope in one stroke, for escapes, a boat cut loose or a hero dropping a trap.
Fast rope slide
Gloved hands rushing down a rope and landing, for rappelling, a gym climb or a getaway down the side of a wall.
Knot pulled tight
Fibres squeaking and cinching as a knot is tugged hard, for sailing, camping, tying up a prisoner or securing a load.

Ways to use a rope sound effect
Hold a slow climb with no music
A rope stretching under load carries a long, quiet climb with nobody talking, keeping a sports video, a survival game or an audio drama tense.

Put the viewer on a boat being tied up
A heavy coil dropped onto boards tells the audience they are on a working boat before the deck is shown, in documentaries, games and audio stories.

Hint at someone escaping out of view
A rope sliding fast off screen suggests someone has dropped down a wall and gone, without showing them, in heist films, stealth games and audio drama.

よくある質問
What is a rope sound effect?
It is the sound of rope being handled: a coil dropped on the floor, fibres stretching under load, a knot pulled tight, a line cut or a taut rope snapping. Rope sounds are rough and fibrous, which is what sets them apart from cables, chains or wire.
Where can I get rope sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the rope and what happens to it takes less time than digging through a stock library, and the exact snap or rasp your scene needs is made for you. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom rope sound effect?
Describe the rope, how thick it is and what happens to it, then generate it. A prompt like "a taut rope snapping under strain, a sharp crack and a whipping recoil" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a rope snap, a rope creak and a whip crack?
A rope snap is a taut line breaking under load, a crack followed by the loose ends whipping back. A rope creak is the slow groan of rope holding weight without breaking, and a whip crack is a sharp lash from a swung whip with no strain behind it.
Can I use these rope sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my rope sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the strain in the sound does not match the rope on screen. A slack rope needs a light rasp, while a rope holding a person or a boat needs a tight creak and crackle, so describe the load and time any snap to the exact frame it breaks.
