Random sound effects

A quack, a smash, a party blowout, a bell. When the joke is that the noise makes no sense, describe the one you want and get a clean take of it.

  • Name any odd noise you can picture and get that one, not a near miss
  • A take made for your cut rather than a pack a thousand videos share
  • Clean audio you can drop on a cut without cleaning it up first
A jumble of unrelated objects mid-air against a bold flat colour, a party blowout, a bicycle bell and a shattering glass caught in the same frame

Six unrelated noises to drop anywhere

Party blowout

A paper tube snapping out straight on one breath. The most useful card here, because a rising reedy squeal reads as celebration and sarcasm equally well depending on where you cut it.

Glass smash

A bursting crack with shards still settling two seconds later. The tail is what sells it, since a smash that ends on the impact sounds like a sample rather than an accident.

Bicycle bell

Two bright dings with a shimmer behind them. Small, cheerful and completely out of context anywhere indoors, which is exactly why it works as an interruption.

Duck quack

Three flat nasal honks spaced unevenly. An animal noise over a human moment is the oldest non sequitur there is, and the uneven spacing is what keeps it from sounding like a sample on repeat.

Power-down whine

An electronic tone sagging until it dies. It reads as a machine giving up, so it lands on anything that has just failed, from a game over screen to a joke that did not work.

Bubbling through a straw

Continuous fat bubbles rising through liquid. It is the only long card on the page, and the childishness of it does more damage under a serious shot than any impact would.

Ways to use random sound effects

Interrupt a line with something that does not belong

A bicycle bell over an indoor moment cuts a sentence in half and gets a laugh for it. The same trick works in a sketch, a stream highlight or an animated scene.

Cover a dead ten seconds without a music bed

Bubbles rising through a glass hold a static shot on their own. Handy over a title card, a loading screen or a slow pan where a track would feel far too committed.

Tell the audience this one went badly

A tone sagging until it dies sets the mood of a failure in three seconds. Games, explainers and comedy edits all use it the same way, as a verdict rather than a reaction.

Put a disaster just outside the frame

A smash with shards still settling builds a broken room nobody had to break. Animation and radio comedy get even more out of it than live action does.

자주 묻는 질문

What counts as a random sound effect?
Any noise with no logical connection to what is on screen. The comedy comes from the mismatch, so the sound itself can be completely ordinary: a duck, a bell, a smash. It only has to be the wrong thing for the moment it lands on.
How do I make a random sound effect?
Choose an object and describe what happens to it physically. Say the material, the action, how many times it repeats, and roughly how long it lasts. A model builds a specific event well and builds the idea of randomness not at all.
How do I pick a noise that will actually get a laugh?
Go one step away from what the scene expects rather than ten. A bicycle bell indoors is funnier than a noise nobody can identify, because the audience recognises it instantly and then has to work out why it is there.
Why do my generated one-shots sound clipped?
Usually because the request was too short. Ask for at least a second and a half and let the tail finish, since the settling after an impact is most of what makes it sound real. You can always trim the file afterwards.
Should a random noise be layered under music or left alone?
Leave it alone wherever you can. A non sequitur works by arriving in a gap, so ducking the track for half a second around it does more for the joke than raising the level of the effect.
Can I use generated random sound effects commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. It also means a channel built on odd noises is not assembled from uploads whose original recordings nobody can trace.
