FAQs
What is a crowd gasp sound effect?
A crowd gasp sound effect is a whole audience drawing breath in at the same moment, in shock or in awe. One person gasping reads as a private reaction, while a crowd gasp tells the viewer that everyone in the place saw it.
Where can I get crowd gasp sounds for a video?
Write the moment down and Morphic generates the gasp. It is quicker than searching for a crowd gasp at the right size and speed, and every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one.
How do I make a custom crowd gasp sound effect?
Choose how many people gasp, how fast, and what follows the gasp, then generate. A prompt like "a large crowd gasping in awe, a slow drawn-in breath into a long aah" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can change the speed or size.
What is the difference between a crowd gasp, a single gasp and a crowd reaction?
A single gasp is one person, close and personal. A crowd gasp is many people drawing breath together, so it sounds bigger and wider. A crowd reaction is broader still, covering oohs, groans and laughs as well as gasps.
Can I use these crowd gasp sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my crowd gasp sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the gasp is too long or too early. A real crowd gasps a few frames after the event, sharply, then goes still. Line the attack up just after the reveal, trim any tail, and add a murmur only if the scene keeps rolling.
