Cutting
A blade sawing through rope fibres, a long rip through corrugated cardboard and wire cutters snapping steel. Describe the cutting sound your scene needs and Morphic generates it clean, from paper to pipe.
- Rope, cardboard, paper or steel wire, cut exactly the way you describe
- Shaped by the material under the blade in your close-up
- Cutting audio comes isolated, ready to pin to the moment the blade moves
Cutting sounds for games, animation, and video edits
Rope cut through
Coarse fibres tearing strand by strand until the rope snaps apart, for a rescue, an escape or a bridge giving way.
Cardboard slice
A long dry ripping scratch through corrugated board, for opening boxes, packing up a move or a craft build.
Paper sheet slice
A crisp dry hiss as a blade runs through thick paper, for model making, a precise trim or a paper craft tutorial.
Rotary fabric cut
A fast crisp zip of a rolling blade through layered cotton, for sewing videos, a tailor at work or quilt making.
Wire cutter snap
A hard metallic crunch and a sharp ping as steel wire gives, for a fence breach, defusing a device or electrical work.
Hacksaw through pipe
Harsh rasping strokes back and forth through metal, for plumbing jobs, a workshop scene or a prisoner working a bar.

Ways to use a cutting sound effect
Keep a craft tutorial moving quietly
Crisp paper slices carry a hands-only making video with no voice over, in a craft reel, a model building clip or a podcast promo.
Edit prompt
Set up a busy workshop at full tilt
A hacksaw rasping through pipe tells the audience work is under way before the wide shot, in a renovation video, a builder game or an audio story.
Edit prompt
Suggest a fence being cut in the dark
Wire cutters snapping steel off screen say someone is breaking in without showing it, useful in a heist film, a stealth game or a radio thriller.

FAQs
What is a cutting sound effect?
Cutting sound effects are the sounds of a blade or cutter going through a material: rope fibres tearing, cardboard ripping, paper hissing, fabric zipping and steel wire snapping. The material does most of the work, so each one sounds very different even with the same tool.
Where can I get cutting sounds for a video?
Tell Morphic the material and the tool, and it generates the cut. That gets you the exact rope or cardboard cut in your shot, faster than trawling a library of general blade noises. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom cutting sound effect?
Spell out the material, its thickness and the tool, then generate it. A prompt like "a utility blade slicing one long cut through thick corrugated cardboard" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until the cut sounds right.
What is the difference between cutting rope, cardboard and wire?
Rope gives a coarse, fibrous tearing that ends in a snap, cardboard gives a dry rasping rip, and steel wire gives a hard crunch with a metallic ping. Match the material on screen, since the ear hears what is being cut more than the blade itself.
Can I use these cutting sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my cutting sound not sit right in the edit?
A cut that runs the wrong length for the stroke on screen is the usual problem. A long sawing sound under one quick slice feels off, so match one stroke to one cut, start on the frame the blade touches and choose the material that is actually in shot.
