Draw

A pencil hatching across a sketchbook, charcoal smudged on rough paper and a marker squeaking as it draws a long line. Describe the drawing sound your scene needs and Morphic generates it clean.

  • Pencil, charcoal, marker or chalk, drawn on the surface you describe
  • Strokes timed to your sketchbook timelapse, every line landing as it appears
  • Clean drawing sounds with no room or chatter behind them, ready for video and podcasts

Pencil sketching

Quick hatching strokes in graphite, for a sketchbook video, an artist at work or a drawing timelapse on a channel.

Charcoal smudge

Charcoal scraping on rough paper and a finger smudging it, for a life drawing class, an art film or a moody portrait.

Marker outline

A squeaky felt-tip line with short lifts, for a poster being made, a plan sketched on paper or an outline in a craft video.

Crayon scribble

A crayon scribbled fast in waxy strokes, for a child drawing at the table, a kids show or a messy creative moment.

Chalk on a board

Chalk tapping and scraping on slate, for a classroom, a lecture hall or a teacher mapping out a lesson on a board.

Ink brush stroke

One wet sweep of an ink brush, for brush art, a painting reveal or a still scene in an artist workroom.

Ways to use a draw sound effect

Make the final line of a drawing land

One squeaky marker stroke on the frame the outline closes gives the reveal its finish, in a craft video, an animation or an explainer.

Carry a sketch timelapse with no music

Steady pencil hatching holds a long drawing timelapse together without a score, in art channels, tutorials, relaxing videos and podcasts.

Put the viewer back in a classroom

Chalk tapping and scraping on slate tells the audience they are at school before the board is shown, in period film, games and audio stories.

FAQs

What is a draw sound effect?
Draw sound effects are the sounds of making marks by hand: a pencil hatching, charcoal scraping and smudging, a marker gliding, a crayon scribbling, chalk on a board and an ink brush on paper. Each tool and surface has its own grain.
Where can I get draw sounds for a video?
Generate them on Morphic from a description of the tool and the stroke. Finding the right pencil or chalk on the right surface in a stock library takes far longer, and every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it.
How do I make a custom draw sound effect?
Pick the tool, the surface and the stroke, then generate it. A prompt like "a stick of charcoal drawing on rough paper, then a fingertip smudging it, a gritty scrape and a dry rub" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording.
What is the difference between pencil, charcoal and marker drawing sounds?
A pencil makes a fine dry scratch with a crisp edge. Charcoal is grittier and duller, scraping and crumbling on rough paper, and a marker glides with a wet squeak and almost no grain at all.
Can I use these draw sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my draw sound not sit right in the edit?
Drawing sounds are small, so they get lost or sound pasted on when the level is wrong. Keep them close and clear when the hand is in shot, match the stroke speed to the movement you see, and lower them under any voiceover.
