FAQs
What is an ew sound effect?
It is a short spoken "ew" used to react to something gross, slimy or cringey in a video. The delivery sets the tone: a quick one is a flinch, a long one is lingering disgust, and a teasing one is a joke between friends.
Where can I get ew sounds for a video?
Type the squeamish ew your taste test or slime clip needs into a prompt and Morphic voices it, so there is no sound board to scroll. Every clip on this page was made from the prompt shown beside it, so you can start from one and adjust.
How do I make a custom ew sound effect?
Write "Ew" and add the delivery in a bracket at the start, such as [disgusted, quick] or [playful, teasing]. Put any stretch in the bracket with words like drawn out, keep the line short, then generate it and adjust until it fits the moment.
What is the difference between a disgusted, a squeamish and a teasing ew?
A disgusted ew is flat and quick, a reaction to something truly gross. A squeamish ew is higher and jumpy, the flinch when something moves or touches you. A teasing ew is light and playful, aimed at a friend or a cheesy moment more than at anything unpleasant.
Can I use these ew sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my ew not land in the edit?
Usually it comes too early. An ew is a reaction, so let the viewer see the gross thing for a beat first, then place the word just after. Trim any breath before it and dip the background audio so the reaction cuts through.
