FAQs
What is a flash sound effect?
A flash sound effect is the burst heard with a sudden bright light: a camera flash pop, an old flashbulb burning out, a magic or energy burst, a bulb blowing or a lightning crack. Editors drop it on the frame where the picture flares white.
Where can I get flash sounds for a video?
Choose the kind of flash and generate it, which is quicker than combing through camera and lightning clips for one that fits. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom flash sound effect?
Write down what makes the flash and the burst you hear, then generate it. A prompt like "a light bulb blowing out, a sharp electric pop and a tiny glassy ping" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can revise the wording until it suits the shot.
What is the difference between a camera flash, a vintage flashbulb and a magic flash?
A modern camera flash is a hard electric pop with a whine as it recharges. A vintage flashbulb is a duller thump with burning foil, and a magic flash is a shimmering whoosh with sparkles, so each places the light in a different world.
Can I use these flash sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my flash sound not sit right in the edit?
The pop usually sits a frame or two away from the white flash on screen. Snap the start of the sound to the first bright frame, keep it short, and avoid stacking a whoosh in front of it so the burst stays sudden.
