FAQs

What is a squelch sound effect?
It is a wet, sucking noise made when something presses into or out of a thick liquid or paste: mud, slime or a soaked shoe. The suck and the release are what make it a squelch.
Where can I get squelch sounds for a video?
Describe the material and the movement, then generate it. A library rarely matches the mud you need, and each sound here shows the prompt it came from.
How do I make a custom squelch sound effect?
Name the material, what moves through it, and how thick it is, for example "three slow footsteps in soft mud, each a wet sinking squelch". Change the material to alter the stickiness.
What is the difference between a squelch and a splash?
A squelch is thick and sticky, with suction and a pop at the end. A splash is thin water thrown outward. Mud and slime squelch, and puddles splash.
Can I use these squelch sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each squelch is generated for you, it will not match the mud in another trailer.
Why does my squelch sound too watery?
If the mud sounds thin, ask for something thicker with a slower release and a clearer suction pop. Fewer droplets and a heavier foot help it read as mud.
