White noise

Even full-spectrum hiss, the warmth of pink, the deep roll of brown, and the fan and air-conditioner versions people usually mean. Describe the colour and Morphic builds the bed.

White noise

White noise beds for film, games, and study sessions

Pure white noise

Even hiss with every frequency at the same strength and no pitch to latch onto. The reference version, and the one for blanketing a room rather than colouring it.

Soft white noise

The same even hiss with the harsh top rolled off, so it sits in a room without the sibilant edge. Use it when pure white feels too bright to leave running.

Pink noise

Weighted toward the lower frequencies, which is why it reads warmer and less tiring than white. The one most people prefer after hearing both.

Brown noise

The high hiss rolled away until only a dark roar is left, closer to distant surf than to static. The deepest of the colours and the one that masks low rumble best.

Fan white noise

Moving air with a faint blade whir under it, which is what most people picture. Use it when you want a source in the room rather than an abstract hiss.

Air conditioner white noise

Forced air through a vent with a low motor drone beneath it. Broader and duller than a fan, and the version that reads as a building rather than an appliance.

Ways to use white noise

Punctuate a cut to lost signal

Bring pure white up hard on a cut and the picture reads as dead air before anyone sees a screen. Works the same in a game menu as in a broadcast scene.

Fill a quiet scene without music

Lay a soft bed under dialogue so the silence between lines has a floor. It holds the scene together without a music cue crowding the voices.

Tell the audience it is the middle of the night

An air-conditioner bed with nothing else on top reads as a building that is awake when nobody in it is. The bed sets the hour before a single shot does.

Put a machine in the room without showing one

A fan hiss with its faint blade whir places an appliance just out of frame, so the room feels lived in without adding a prop or a shot.

FAQs

What is the difference between white, pink, and brown noise?
It is how the energy is spread. White holds every frequency at equal strength and sounds bright and hissy. Pink is weighted toward the lower frequencies and sounds warmer. Brown rolls the highs away further again and sounds like a distant roar.
What is green noise?
Green noise concentrates its energy in the middle of the range, around the frequencies of moving water and wind in trees, which is why it is described as the sound of nature. It has its own page in this library with beds you can play.
How long can a generated white noise clip be?
The model returns a continuous bed rather than a fixed length, and the long takes here run to a couple of minutes. For a longer session, place the clip on your timeline and extend it there.
Why does my white noise sound like it is pulsing?
The prompt did not ask for continuity. Add "even and unbroken with no pulsing" and name the mechanism first, a continuous hiss, rather than the label. Describing the movement is what stops the model returning separate bursts with gaps between them.
How do I get a fan or air conditioner instead of pure hiss?
Ask for the source and its mechanism. "Moving air from an electric fan with a faint blade whir underneath" gives you an appliance in the room, where "full-spectrum hiss at equal strength" gives you the abstract version.
Can I use generated white noise in a commercial project?
Yes. Audio generated on a paid Morphic plan is cleared for commercial use, including video, games, and apps. Download it and place it on your timeline.
