How do I draw grass without every blade looking identical?
Vary three things per blade: the height, the lean angle and how far up it curls over. Let some blades cross in front of others and let a few end lower than their neighbours. Evenly spaced blades of one length is what makes grass look like a comb.
What stroke should I use for grass?
Draw each blade in one confident movement from the base upward, letting the line taper as it lifts, rather than outlining the blade and filling it. Pull the stroke away from the root so the thick end lands where the blade meets the ground, which is where the weight actually is.
How do I draw a whole field without drawing every blade?
Only the front third gets individual blades. Behind that, switch to short repeated marks that describe the direction of the mass, and in the far distance drop to a flat tone with a broken top edge. That drop in detail is what creates depth across a field.
How do I make grass look windblown?
Commit every blade to the same general lean, then break it with a handful that resist at a slightly different angle. Add a few seed heads bending further than their stems. Uniform lean alone looks combed, so the exceptions are what sell the movement.
How do I get a plain background or crop the drawing?
Ask for a flat white background above the grass line with no sky or setting, then crop it on the Canvas to the band you need. A grass strip on plain white is the easiest version to reuse as a footer, a border or a layer behind another drawing.
Can I keep a set of grass drawings in one style?
Use Style Transfer. Lock the look of the first study, then apply it as you generate each grass type so the stroke weight, the blade density and the palette stay the same. That is what lets several panels sit together in one scene without one of them looking pasted in.
