Draw a sad mood through posture and light

Describe the sad drawing you want in Morphic's Image tool, from a downcast eye study in graphite to a figure curled by a rain-streaked window. Set the expression, the posture, the medium and how low the light sits, refine the drawing on the Canvas, then download it in HD.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

How do I draw a sad face convincingly?
The inner ends of the brows lift and pull together, the upper lids sit heavy and the mouth corners drop without the lips parting. Name those three things in the prompt. A frowning mouth on its own reads as anger, not sadness.
How do I show sadness without drawing a face at all?
Use posture and empty space. A rounded back, a turned-away head, a wide gap between two figures, or one object alone in a large empty frame all carry it. Composition often reads more clearly than expression does.
How do I draw a tear so it does not look like a blob?
A tear is mostly transparent, so it reads through its edge and its highlight, not its fill. Ask for a thin bright rim, one small specular dot and the skin visible through the middle, with a faint dark line beneath it.
Which lighting suits a sad drawing?
Low key, with a single soft source and a lot of the frame left in shadow. Window light from one side works well because it gives you a bright edge and lets everything else fall away without you drawing it.
Which medium carries this mood best?
Charcoal, because it smudges and lets edges dissolve. Graphite suits a quiet close study, and ink with a grey wash suits rain and reflections. Flat cartoon line is the one to use when you want the feeling read at a glance.
Can I keep a series of mood drawings in one style?
Use Style Transfer to lock the medium, line weight and value range, then change only the subject. The series holds together, which matters more than any single drawing when you are building a set.
