How do I draw an umbrella easily?
Draw the canopy as a series of shallow arcs along the bottom edge rather than one smooth curve, then run a rib up to the centre from every point where two arcs meet. The rib count and the panel count have to match.
Why does my umbrella look flat?
Because the canopy is drawn as a half circle. Ask for the front panels to hang lower than the back ones and for the rim to curve as an ellipse, not a straight line. That one change gives it depth.
How do I draw rain around the umbrella?
Ask for rain as slanted parallel strokes all running the same way, heavier below the canopy edge where it runs off. Dots and random marks read as dust rather than rain.
How do I draw an umbrella for a rainy season school project?
