The dry wooden click of a stick laid across the rim, the hushed snare sound of ballads and late-night scenes.

Brush sweep

Wire brushes circling the head with light taps, the swishing texture under a jazz scene or a slow montage.

Marching cadence

A tight military pattern of flams and rolls, the snare sound for parades, drills and anything that marches.

Flam

Two sticks landing almost together for a thicker crack, played twice, a fuller accent than a single hit.

Ways to use a snare sound effect

Hit a punchline on the beat

One snare crack on the frame a joke lands gives a sketch, a reaction video or an animated gag a clean full stop.

Keep a slow scene moving without a melody

Brushes sweeping a snare carry a stretch of video with no dialogue, a podcast bumper or a game menu screen with rhythm and texture and no tune to compete.

Set a parade or a drill in motion

A marching snare cadence says uniforms, ranks and a parade ground before the camera finds them, in a period film, a strategy game or an animated short.

A band heard warming up behind a door

Cross-stick clicks drifting from off screen tell the audience a drummer is just out of view, in a story, a game level or a podcast.

よくある質問

What is a snare sound effect?
It is the sound of a snare drum on its own: the sharp crack and wire buzz of a single hit, or a technique such as a cross-stick, brushes, a flam or a marching pattern. It carries the backbeat in music and lands accents, gags and cuts in video.
Where can I get snare sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the snare sound you need takes less time than digging through a stock library, and the exact take your scene needs is generated for you. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom snare sound effect?
Describe how the snare is played and how it should ring, then generate it. A prompt like "a single tight snare drum hit, a sharp crack with the snare wires buzzing" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a snare crack, a rimshot and a cross-stick?
A snare crack is the stick hitting the center of the head, a tight hit with the wires buzzing. A rimshot hits the head and rim together for a louder, ringing crack. A cross-stick clicks the stick on the rim, a dry wooden tap with almost no buzz, so pick it for a hushed scene and the crack for an accent.
Can I use these snare sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my snare sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the hit is a few frames off the action or rings too long. A snare should land exactly on the stick strike or the cut, and a long ring smears into the next shot. Generate a tighter, drier hit, line its sharp front edge up with the frame, and trim the tail.
