Gemini 4 Carbon: what to expect and what to use today

Gemini 4 Carbon is Google's frontier reasoning model for cybersecurity and coding, coming soon. See what is confirmed, what is expected, and how to use Gemini 4 Argon on Morphic in the meantime.

Gemini 4 Carbon: what is confirmed so far

Gemini 4 Carbon is Google's frontier reasoning model of the Gemini 4 generation. It is built for long-horizon agentic work, coding and cybersecurity. The Fairwind Program has opened early access to cyber defenders, with broader access in the weeks ahead. Features and benchmarks below reflect what Google has published; this page updates with the launch specs.

WhatDetailHow sure
Intelligence benchmark#1 on AI Intelligence Index v5.0, score 59Confirmed
CybersecuritySEC-bench Pro 88.2%, ExploitGym 54.8%, CWE-bench 71.0%Confirmed
CodingWebDev Arena #4 at 1768 Elo, +89 over predecessorConfirmed
Calibration vs ArgonUnsupported claims cut ~2x, overreach down 26%, under-service down 29%Confirmed
Safety0% cheating on Terminal-Bench 4.0, 0% prompt-injection attack successConfirmed
Secure codeMore than 2x success-rate uplift over Argon in internal evaluationConfirmed
API pricing$2 / $10 per M tokens (intro), $4 / $20 afterConfirmed
AccessCyber defenders first, broader via Fairwind ProgramConfirmed
Multimodal inputText, images, audio, video and codeLikely, because Argon accepts all five and Carbon is the same family
Context window1M tokensLikely, because Argon has 1M and no different size has been stated
Morphic availabilityExpected once broader access opensLikely, because the Gemini line runs on Morphic

Gemini 4 Carbon release date

Google has not published a general availability date. The Fairwind Program has opened early access to cyber defenders, and broader access is expected in the coming weeks. No waitlist or sign-up page has been announced beyond the Fairwind Program itself.

Gemini 4 Carbon price and API access

API pricing is confirmed at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens during the introductory period. After the introductory period, pricing moves to $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. How these rates compare with Argon on a per-task basis depends on the task, since reasoning models vary in how many tokens they use to think.

What to use on Morphic today

Gemini 4 Argon, Carbon's predecessor in the same family, runs in Morphic Copilot on every paid plan from Basic up. It handles the same kind of multi-step reasoning, planning and production work, and it connects over MCP from apps such as Gemini CLI.

Open Morphic Copilot

Start a new Copilot chat inside any project. Pick Gemini 4 Argon in the model picker at the bottom right of the prompt bar.

Describe the project

Attach what you have (a brief, reference files, code) and describe the finished deliverable. Argon plans the steps and calls the generation models.

Or connect over MCP

In an MCP app such as Gemini CLI, add the Morphic MCP server (https://mcp.morphic.com/mcp), approve the connection, and generate into your Morphic projects from there.

The Gemini 4 Argon guide walks through both routes step by step.

FAQs

When will Gemini 4 Carbon be available?
The Fairwind Program has opened early access to cyber defenders. Broader access is expected in the coming weeks. Google has not published a general availability date.
How much does Gemini 4 Carbon cost?
API pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens during the introductory period, moving to $4 and $20 after.
Can I use Gemini 4 Carbon on Morphic?
Not yet. Carbon is not on Morphic while access is limited. Its predecessor, Gemini 4 Argon, runs in Morphic Copilot on every paid plan and handles the same kind of reasoning and production work.
How is Carbon different from Argon?
Both are reasoning models in the Gemini 4 family. Carbon is the frontier tier with higher scores across cybersecurity, coding and safety benchmarks. Published improvements include roughly 2x fewer unsupported claims, 26% less overreach and 29% less under-service.
What is the Fairwind Program?
The Fairwind Program is how Google is rolling out early Carbon access, starting with cyber defenders. Broader access is expected in the coming weeks.
What can I do with Gemini 4 Argon while I wait for Carbon?
Argon plans multi-step projects, writes prompts, calls Morphic's image, video and audio models, and reviews the results. It works in Copilot and over MCP. The Gemini 4 Argon guide has six project workflows.
Will Gemini 4 Carbon work with Morphic MCP?
Likely, because the Gemini line already connects to Morphic through MCP. Whether Carbon supports MCP at general availability depends on Google's rollout.
