Friction drawings with force arrows

Describe the friction drawing you need in Morphic's Image tool, from a wooden block sliding on a ramp with force arrows to a car tire gripping a wet road. Pick the medium, the labels and the level of detail, tidy the arrows on the Canvas, then download the diagram in HD.

FAQs

How do I draw friction in a science diagram?
Draw the object on its surface, then add one arrow for the motion and one arrow for friction pointing the opposite way along the surface. Keep the friction arrow where the object touches the ground.
Which direction does the friction arrow point?
The friction arrow points against the motion, or against the direction the object would slide. On a ramp, that means up the slope when the block is sliding down.
What are easy examples of friction to draw?
Rubbing hands, a bike braking, a tire on a road, a sled on snow and a match striking a box all read clearly. Each shows two surfaces touching and something slowing or heating up.
How do I show that friction makes heat?
Add small curved heat lines or a warm glow where the two surfaces meet. Rubbing hands and a striking match are the clearest subjects for this idea.
Can I add labels to a friction drawing?
Yes. Generate the diagram without text, then add your own labels on the Canvas so the spelling and font match your worksheet or poster.
Can I animate a friction drawing?
Yes. Send the finished drawing to Image to Video and describe a short motion, such as the block sliding and slowing to a stop on the ramp.
