FAQs

How do I draw kangaroo hind legs so they look right?
The foot is very long and the animal stands on it flat, so the ankle joint sits high up the leg and bends backward. Ask for a long flat hind foot and a high backward-bending ankle, and the leg stops reading like a dog leg.
How do I draw a kangaroo standing up?
It is a tripod. The two hind feet and the thick tail carry the weight, and the body leans back over them. Say "braced on the tail" in the prompt, since a kangaroo balanced on its feet alone always looks like it is about to fall forward.
What is the difference between drawing a kangaroo and a wallaby?
Scale and proportion. A wallaby is smaller with a shorter face, shorter hind feet and a more compact body, so it reads as rounder. A kangaroo is leggier with a long narrow muzzle. Name the one you want in the prompt.
How do I draw a joey in the pouch?
Keep the pouch opening high on the belly and let the joey show only from the shoulders up, leaning out and to one side. Draw the pouch edge as a soft fold rather than a hard pocket line.
What is the easiest way to draw a kangaroo?
Standing side view with an even outline and no fur detail. The body is a pear shape, the head a small wedge on a curved neck, and the tail one thick tapering line. Add the legs last, once the balance is set.
Can I keep several animal drawings in one style?
Use Style Transfer. Lock the look of the first drawing, then apply it as you generate each animal so the line weight, fur treatment and palette stay consistent across the whole set.
