FAQs

Does an orange drawing mean the fruit or the colour?
Both intents exist, so say which you want. For the fruit, name it as a citrus fruit with peel, segments or a leaf. For the colour, describe the palette instead, such as a warm amber and rust scheme.
How do I draw an orange so it looks round?
Curve the peel texture around the form instead of scattering it evenly, and let the dimples compress towards the edges. One soft highlight near the top and a reflected light along the lower edge finish it.
How do I draw a cut orange?
Draw the outer ring, then the pith ring inside it, then ten to twelve segments radiating from the centre with narrow gaps between them. Run the juice sacs as short strokes in the same direction within each segment.
How do I draw orange peel texture?
Use small irregular dimples rather than an even dot pattern, denser on the shaded side. Leaving the lit area almost bare is what makes the peel look waxy instead of rough.
How do I draw a peel spiralling off the fruit?
Draw the peel as a long ribbon with two visible faces, the bright outer skin and the pale pith inside, and let it twist so both faces show. The twist is what makes it read as peel rather than a flat band.
Can I match an orange drawing to other fruit drawings?
Generate the orange first, then use Style Transfer so lemons, apples and the rest of the set keep the same line weight and palette. That keeps a menu or a print set consistent.
