FAQs

How do I draw an ear of wheat?
Draw the stem first as one slightly curved line, then add grains in pairs alternating up it, each a small pointed oval angled outward. The awns come last as long fine strokes fanning from the top of each grain.
How many grains should a wheat drawing have?
Between ten and twenty reads as natural. Fewer looks sparse and more starts to close up. For a symmetrical emblem, use an even number on each side so the two halves balance.
How do I get a clean wheat outline for a label or a badge?
Ask for an even line weight, no shading, no fill and a plain background, then download it in HD. A single stroke weight stays readable when the mark is printed small on packaging.
How do I draw a whole wheat field without drawing every stalk?
Draw the front row in full detail, the middle ground as simplified stems, and the distance as a texture of short repeated marks. Let all of them lean the same way so the field reads as wind.
What is the difference between wheat and barley in a drawing?
Barley has much longer awns that spray well past the head and a looser, more drooping ear. Wheat has a tighter head with shorter awns held closer to vertical. Say which plant you want.
Can I make a set of matching crop drawings?
Generate the wheat first, then use Style Transfer so corn, barley and other plants keep the same line weight and palette. That is how a set for a label family stays consistent.
