Cinematic portrait lit with a classic Rembrandt triangle from a single high side source, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Rembrandt triangle on a cook

Cinematic portrait, 50mm. A cook in her fifties at a steel prep bench, lit by one hard source high and forty-five degrees to camera left, placed so the shadow of her nose reaches down to meet the shadow of her cheek and leaves a small bright triangle of light on the shadow-side cheekbone. Fill is minimal, roughly three stops down, from a dull wall to camera right. Background falls to deep brown. Waist up, three-quarter turn, looking off camera. Palette of warm tungsten, steel and deep shadow. Real skin texture, damp forehead, fine film grain, 4:5.

Portrait lit by a large north-facing window with soft wraparound falloff, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

North window on a bookbinder

Cinematic portrait by window light. A bookbinder at his bench beside a large north-facing window that fills most of the wall to camera left, so the light is broad and soft, wraps around the near side of his face and falls away gradually rather than stopping. No fill from the other side; the right of his face sits about two stops down with detail intact. Cool even daylight with no direct sun. Three-quarter view, working, not looking at camera. Palette of paper white, linen and warm leather. Real skin, glue-stained fingers, fine grain, 3:4.

Edit prompt
Frame lit by two colours from opposite sides with a neutral subject between them, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Two sources, two temperatures

Cinematic wide frame with two motivated colour sources. A mechanic stands in a workshop at dusk between a cool blue-white inspection lamp clamped to the bench on camera left and a warm orange sodium street lamp visible through the open shutter on camera right, so one side of him is cool and the other warm with a neutral band down the middle. Both sources are visible in frame. The rest of the workshop falls dark. Camera at chest height, wide. Palette of steel blue against sodium amber. Real oil-stained overalls, dust, gentle halation on both sources, 16:9.

Edit prompt
Frame lit through foliage so dappled light falls across a face and a wall, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Dappled light through a plane tree

Cinematic frame in dappled light. A woman sits on a bench beneath a plane tree in late summer, hard sun broken by the canopy into a scatter of soft-edged bright patches that fall across her shoulder, one cheek and the wall behind her. The patches are irregular in size, slightly blurred at the edges and clearly brighter than the shade around them by two or three stops. Gentle movement suggested in the leaf shadows. Waist up, three-quarter view, eyes closed. Palette of warm gold on cool green shade. Real skin, fine grain, 5:4.

Edit prompt
Chiaroscuro frame with a single small source and most of the image in darkness, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Candle in a stone cellar

Cinematic chiaroscuro frame. A single candle on a stone ledge in a cellar, held as the only source in the picture, with roughly four fifths of the frame left in genuine darkness where nothing is readable at all. The flame lights a small area of rough stone, a clay jug and one hand reaching towards it, falling off steeply within a short distance. No fill of any kind. Camera close, slightly above the ledge. Palette of warm amber core, deep brown edge and black. Real stone texture and soot marks in the lit zone, visible flame shape, fine grain, 4:5.

Edit prompt
Wide frame lit by hard top light in an interrogation-style room, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Hard top light over a table

Cinematic wide frame under hard top light. A bare metal shaded lamp hangs low directly above a table between two seated men, throwing a hard circular pool onto the table top and lighting the tops of their heads, shoulders and cheekbones while their eye sockets fall into deep shadow. No fill from any direction. The walls of the room are barely visible. Camera at table height, symmetrical. Palette of hot white on the table, mid grey skin and black surround. Real scuffed table surface, smoke drifting through the pool of light, fine grain, 16:9.

Edit prompt
Frame lit by a projector beam falling across a face and a screen, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Projector beam across a face

Cinematic frame in a small screening room. A woman stands in the path of a projector beam so the cone of light passes over her shoulder and crosses her cheek on its way to the screen ahead, and the bright screen also throws a soft cool wash back onto the front of her. Her silhouette interrupts a corner of the projected image. The beam is visible in the air. Everything else is dark. Camera to one side, three-quarter view. Palette of cool white beam, warm dark room and dust. Real dust in the cone, faint gate flicker, fine grain, 4:3.

Edit prompt
Wide cinematic frame with a figure rim-lit against a dark interior by a doorway behind, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Rim light from an open doorway

Wide cinematic frame, anamorphic. A figure stands in a dark warehouse with an open loading door behind them, the daylight beyond throwing a clean bright rim along their shoulders, arms and the edge of their hair. Nothing lights them from the front, so their face and body read as a dark shape with detail only at the very edges. The concrete floor picks up a long reflected wash from the doorway. Camera at chest height, subject small and placed left of centre. Palette of cold daylight rim against warm black interior. Dust in the air, gentle lens flare at the door edge, 16:9.

Edit prompt
Face lit from below by a fire with warm flicker on the underside of the features, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Firelight from below the jaw

Cinematic close frame. A teenager sits at a beach fire at night, lit only from below the jaw by the flames so the light climbs the underside of the chin, the nose and the brow ridge, leaving the eye sockets and the top of the head in darkness. The light is uneven and slightly restless with a broken edge rather than a smooth pool. Behind, the beach falls to complete black with a faint band of surf. Head and shoulders, slight low angle. Palette of orange, ember red and black. Real skin, sparks drifting, fine grain, 4:3.

Edit prompt
Overhead lighting plan drawn as a top-down diagram of a set with lamp positions, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Lighting plan for a two-hander

A top-down lighting plan drawn as a clean technical diagram on a pale grey ground, no perspective and no three-dimensional rendering at all. A rectangular room is shown in plan with walls as thick black lines, a table and two chairs in simple outline, two small circles marking actor positions, and four lamp symbols placed around them with short arrows showing the direction each one points. Fine dashed lines mark the camera's field of view from a marked camera position. Small neat labels read KEY, FILL, BACK and PRACTICAL. Thin consistent line weights, flat colour, 1:1.

Edit prompt
Interior lit by hard midday sun through a window casting a sharp shape on the wall, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Window shape thrown on a wall

Cinematic interior in hard midday sun. An empty bedroom where sunlight comes through a small four-pane window and prints a crisp bright rectangle divided into four panels across the wall and the corner of a bed. Edges of the patch are sharp, not soft. The rest of the room sits three stops down in cool bounced light from the ceiling. Camera square to the wall, slightly low. Palette of hot white light, warm ochre wall and cool blue shadow. Real dust drifting through the beam, worn paintwork, visible weave in the bedspread, fine grain, 4:3.

Edit prompt
High key comedy interior lit evenly and brightly with almost no shadow, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

High key kitchen with no shadow

Cinematic high key interior. A bright modern kitchen lit by several large soft sources plus a lit white ceiling, so the whole set sits high on the tonal scale with no deep shadow anywhere and no strong direction to the light. Two people talk across the island, both evenly lit with soft shadowless faces. Every surface is pale. The darkest tone in the frame is a light grey under the counter overhang. Wide, camera at standing eye level. Palette of white, pale oak and soft grey. Real material texture, gentle highlight roll-off, very light grain, 16:9.

Edit prompt
Four-panel comparison of the same face lit four different ways, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

One face, four set-ups

A single square image divided into four equal panels by fine white lines, showing the same man's head and shoulders photographed four times from the identical camera position with the identical expression, changing only the lighting. Top left is lit flat and frontal; top right is lit hard from ninety degrees left; bottom left is lit from high above so the eyes fall into shadow; bottom right is lit only from behind as a rim. Same neutral grey background in all four. Small plain labels in the corner of each panel. Real skin texture throughout, consistent grain, 1:1.

Edit prompt
Portrait lit by light bounced off a nearby wall for very soft directional light, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Bounce off a white wall

Cinematic portrait lit entirely by bounce. A young man stands beside a large white wall while a hard source out of frame is aimed into that wall, so all the light reaching him is soft, directional and coming from the wall's whole surface at camera left. The shadow edges on his face are very gradual, and the far side of his face sits a stop and a half down. Plain mid grey backdrop. Head and shoulders, slight turn, calm expression. Palette of neutral clean skin tones. Real pore texture and fine hair separation, very gentle contrast, light grain, 3:4.

Edit prompt
Interior lit only by a table lamp with visible falloff into the corners, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Table lamp as the only source

Cinematic interior, single practical. A small brass table lamp with a warm shade stands on a side table and is the only light in the room, so brightness drops away quickly and the corners of the space go almost black. The chair beside it is clearly lit on the near side and unlit on the far side. A man reads with the page catching most of the light. Camera at seated eye level, slightly wide. Palette of tungsten amber against cool unlit shadow. Visible lamp filament glow, real fabric texture on the shade, soft grain, 5:4.

Edit prompt
Night exterior lit as day for night with cool moonlight and deep blue shadow, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Day for night on a farm track

Cinematic night exterior, day for night. A farm track running between hedges under a deep blue night sky that stays noticeably brighter than the ground, with the land beneath reduced to dark blue-grey masses. A hard cool source stands in for the moon, high and behind camera left, putting a crisp silver edge on the hedge tops and a long pale strip down the wet ruts of the track. No warm light anywhere. Wide, camera low on the track. Palette of steel blue, black-green hedge and one silver highlight. Real ground texture, faint mist in the dip, 16:9.

Edit prompt
Portrait split precisely down the middle by a hard side light, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Split light down the nose

Cinematic portrait, hard split lighting. A man in his forties faces camera square on, lit by a single hard source placed exactly ninety degrees to camera left and level with his eyes, so the light divides his face precisely down the bridge of the nose. The lit half is fully modelled; the unlit half sits four stops down with only the catchlight in the eye reading. Black background, no fill, no rim. Head and shoulders, centred, direct gaze. Palette of neutral skin against pure black. Real pore and stubble texture on the lit side, fine grain, 4:5.

Edit prompt
Portrait lit only by the glow of a computer monitor at night, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Monitor glow at three in the morning

Cinematic portrait lit only by a computer monitor. A woman in her thirties sits close to a screen at night, her face lit flatly and evenly from directly in front by the pale cool light of the display, so there is very little modelling and almost no shadow on her features. The room behind her is entirely dark except for a faint edge on a chair back. Small rectangular catchlights sit in both eyes. Head and shoulders, slightly below eye level. Palette of cool grey-blue skin against black. Real skin texture, tired eyes, fine grain, 3:4.

Edit prompt
Car interior at night lit by passing street lights sweeping across a driver's face, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Street lights sweeping a driver

Cinematic night interior of a moving car. A driver in her forties at the wheel, lit by warm sodium street lights passing overhead and to her left, caught at the moment one is sweeping across so the light is bright on her forehead and cheek and already falling away down her jaw. Between lamps the cabin is nearly black, lit faintly by the cool instrument panel from below. Shot from the passenger seat, three-quarter rear view. Palette of amber sweep, cool dash glow and deep black. Real skin, slight motion softness outside the windows, fine grain, 4:3.

Edit prompt
Vertical frame with a figure lit by a shaft of light in a stairwell, generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro

Shaft of light in a stairwell

Cinematic vertical frame. A boy stands halfway up a dim concrete stairwell where a single shaft of hard sunlight enters through a high slot window and crosses the space diagonally, clearly visible as a beam because the air is thick with disturbed dust. The beam lights his shoulder and one side of his face and lands as a bright parallelogram on the steps below. Everything outside it is deep grey. Camera low, looking up the flight. Palette of hot white beam, cool grey concrete and black corners. Real dust motes, worn nosings on the steps, fine grain, 9:16.

FAQs

How do I use these cinematic lighting prompts?
Copy a prompt, paste it into Morphic with Seedream 5.0 Pro selected, and run it before changing anything. Then swap the subject and leave the lighting clause exactly as it is. These prompts are written so that the light survives a change of subject, which is what makes them reusable across a whole project.
Why is this library built for Seedream 5.0 Pro?
Light is the entire deliverable on this page, and Seedream 5.0 Pro is the cinematic realism tier in Morphic with the highest controllability. It holds a stated source direction and a stated fall-off instead of averaging them into a generally attractive picture, which is exactly what a lighting reference has to do.
Why does asking for cinematic lighting on its own not work?
Because it names a feeling rather than a set-up. Every prompt here says where the light comes from, what kind of source it is, how hard or soft it is, and how far it falls off. Those four facts are what a gaffer would need, and they are what actually changes the image.
What does motivated lighting mean and why does it matter?
It means every light in the frame has a visible or implied reason to exist: a window, a lamp, a fire, a screen, a passing car. Naming that source gives the model a physical logic to render, which is why a prompt that says a single caged work lamp above the bench beats one that says moody atmospheric glow.
How do I keep the same look across a whole sequence of images?
Fix the source and the ratio between key and fill, then change only the camera. Keep the same sentence describing the light in every prompt and vary the framing, the lens and the subject around it. Rewriting the light for each shot is what makes a set of frames look like they came from different films.
