Give a turn of the head some body
A short rustle on a shoulder turn makes a still frame feel inhabited, which matters in close-ups, animation and any dialogue scene shot dry.

Cloth Movement
The rustle, swish, and shift of fabric that makes a body feel present on screen. Describe the garment and the move your shot is missing and Morphic generates the cloth foley in seconds.
- Name the garment and the gesture, a stiff coat, a slow turn, and the rustle matches the weight of the cloth.
- Custom cloth passes cut to your performer's timing, instead of library takes recorded for someone else's movement.
- Close-recorded material with no footsteps or room tone baked in, so it slots under dialogue untouched.
Cloth foley for animation, games, and video edits
Shirt rustle
Shirt rustle, light cotton shifting against skin, the small sound of breathing and sitting still. Best kept low under close dialogue.
Fabric swish
Fabric swish, a fuller sweep of cloth through air, for a cloak turn, a dress spin or a sleeve thrown across frame.
Denim rub
Denim rub, coarse, dry friction between heavy legs walking, the texture that makes a work scene feel physical.
Coat pull-on
Coat pull-on, arms into sleeves, collar settling, one shrug at the end. A whole leaving-the-house action in a single take.
Sheet flap
Sheet flap, a large light cloth caught by air, useful for bedrooms, laundry lines and any morning that starts with movement.
Pocket pat
Pocket pat, a quick hand check over a jacket, the gesture of someone confirming they still have their keys or their nerve.

Ways to use cloth foley sound effects
When two lines of dialogue leave a hole
Low cloth movement under a pause keeps a conversation from going dead, giving an animated scene or an audio drama a floor of quiet activity.
Edit prompt
Heavy winter coat, thin summer shirt
Fabric stiffness quietly signals season and status: heavy wool suggests winter and money, thin cotton suggests heat and a character with less.
Edit prompt
Someone shifting just off camera
A rub of denim behind the door places a second person in the room during a scene that never leaves the character we can already see.

FAQs
What is cloth foley?
Cloth foley is the performed sound of fabric moving on a body: the rustle of a shirt, the swish of a coat, the drag of a sheet. It is added in post to make a figure on screen feel physically present, because most cameras never capture clothing movement cleanly. On screen it does quiet, constant work, telling the ear that a real body is moving.
Where can I get cloth foley for a video?
Generate it rather than search for it. Describing the fabric and the move takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact weight your shot needs instead of the closest available clip. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom cloth foley sound effect?
Describe the garment, the movement, and how heavy the fabric is, then generate it. A prompt like "a quick cotton shirt rustle as someone turns, soft brushing threads, about 1.5 seconds" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it matches the motion on screen.
How is cloth foley different from a footstep or a prop sound?
Cloth foley covers only the fabric on a moving body, not the feet and not what the hands touch. It is the softest of the three and usually sits lowest in a mix, filling the space between the harder footstep and prop hits so a movement reads as continuous rather than as a series of separate sounds.
Can I use these cloth foley sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated rather than pulled from a shared library, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my cloth foley not sit right in the edit?
Usually the weight is wrong rather than the sound itself. A light cotton rustle under a heavy leather coat feels pasted on, because the ear expects the sound to match what it sees. Name the fabric and how heavy it is when you generate it, and match the move frame for frame, and it settles into the scene with far less mixing.
