Make the handbrake turn land on the cut
A handbrake click and squeal on the frame the car snaps sideways gives a chase its signature move, in an action film, a racing game or an animation.
Edit prompt
Drift
Tires howling through a long sideways slide, a car flicking from one drift into the next and smoke pouring off tight donuts. Describe the drift your scene needs and Morphic generates it clean, engine and rubber together.
- A long slide, a handbrake entry or tight donuts, made as you describe
- Held for the full sideways run your car takes through the hairpin
- Drift audio comes isolated, ready to ride under the whole slide
Drift sounds for games, animation, and video edits
Long drift squeal
Tires squealing steadily through a long sideways corner with the engine held high, the core drift sound for any chase.
Drift transition
The squeal dropping and rising again as the car flicks direction, for mountain roads, a drift event or a slick chase.
Donut spin
Tires screaming round in a tight circle with the engine bouncing, for a car meet, a victory lap or a showing-off moment.
Handbrake entry
A ratchet click, a sudden squeal and a rising rev, for the moment a driver throws the car sideways into a turn.
Drift fly-by
Squeal and revving engine rising loud and sweeping away, for a drifting car passing the camera or a crowd at a track.
Drift onto gravel
A squeal turning into a crunching spray of stones, for a car running wide off the road or a rally stage on loose ground.

Ways to use a drift sound effect
Carry a long drift run with no music
One long drift squeal with the engine held high holds a slow-motion slide through a corner, in a car video, a racing game or a podcast promo.
Edit prompt
Set up a night of street racing
Donuts spinning under the opening shot tell the audience they are at a car meet before the crowd is shown, in a film, a game or an audio drama.
Edit prompt
Hint at a chase in the next street
A drift fly-by off screen says a car is tearing round the block without showing it, useful in a crime drama, an open world game or a radio play.

FAQs
What is a drift sound effect?
Drift sound effects are the sounds of a car sliding sideways on purpose: a long steady tire squeal, the engine held at high revs, handbrake entries, transitions and donuts. A drift is sustained, so rubber and engine work together for seconds at a time, longer than a quick skid.
Where can I get drift sounds for a video?
Put the slide into words and generate it. Describing the drift and the engine gets you a run made for your shot, quicker than stitching short screeches into something long enough. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom drift sound effect?
Cover the slide, the engine and the surface in your prompt, then generate it. A prompt like "a car flicking from one drift into another, the tire squeal dropping, then rising again" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can stretch or tighten the slide with a few words.
What is the difference between a drift and a tire screech sound?
A tire screech is short, a braking skid or a chirp that peaks and stops. A drift is a long controlled slide where the squeal holds and the engine keeps revving underneath. Use a drift when the car stays sideways through the shot.
Can I use these drift sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my drift sound not sit right in the edit?
A squeal that stops before the car straightens on screen, or an engine sitting too low, is the usual cause. Keep the squeal running for the whole slide, let the revs rise and fall with the throttle, and cut it on the frame the car grips again.
