Jaguar sounds for games, animation, and video edits
Sawing call
The rasping run of grunts that is the true jaguar call, for a night scene, a wildlife film or a big cat that is not a lion.
Cough grunts
Three deep hoarse coughs with space between, a short warning that a jaguar is close and aware of you.
Low growl
A steady rumble through bared teeth, the held threat under a standoff or a cat guarding its kill.
Snarl and hiss
A sharp hiss that rips into a snarl and cuts off, for the moment a jaguar is cornered or lashes out.
Stalking paws
Heavy padded steps crunching slowly over leaves, the sound of a hunter moving in before anything is seen.
Water pounce
A burst of paws, a heavy splash and a snarl, for the strike jaguars are known for, hunting from the riverbank.

Ways to use a jaguar sound effect
Let a slow stalk play out with only footsteps
Paws crunching over leaves carry a long hunting shot with no score, for a documentary, a stealth game or an audio drama.
Edit prompt
Tell the audience this is the rainforest at night
The sawing call over a dark shot of trees says rainforest and predator in one go, in a travel film, an animation or a podcast scene.
Edit prompt
Put a hunter just past the edge of the frame
A low growl from off screen tells viewers the camp is being watched, so a horror scene or a survival game never has to show the cat.

FAQs
What is a jaguar sound effect?
It is a recording of a jaguar, the big cat of the Americas: its rasping sawing call, deep coughing grunts, a low growl, a snarl and hiss, paws stalking through leaves or a pounce into water. It is the animal only, used to put a powerful, hidden predator in a scene.
Where can I get jaguar sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the jaguar sound you want takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact call or growl your scene needs. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom jaguar sound effect?
Describe what the jaguar is doing and how close it is, then generate it. A prompt like "a jaguar giving its rasping sawing call, a run of deep hoarse grunts" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a jaguar, a tiger and a lion sound?
A lion gives a long rolling roar that carries for miles; a tiger roars too and also makes a friendly chuffing puff; and a jaguar is known for its sawing call, a rasping string of grunts in and out. A lion roar under a jaguar reads as the wrong cat to anyone who knows, so use the sawing call for a jaguar.
Can I use these jaguar sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my jaguar sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually it is a roar where a jaguar would stay silent. A jaguar hunts by stealth, so a full roar under a stalking shot gives the game away and feels wrong. Use paws and a low growl while it hunts, and save the sawing call for when it is out in the open.
