Coughing grunts
Short throaty huffs in a broken run, the actual voice of a kangaroo for a close-up or a talking animal.

Tell the audience this is the Australian outback
A mob drumming across red dirt says outback before a single landmark appears, in a road trip film, an animation or an audio drama.

Signal danger the mob has already sensed
Alarm stamps from off screen tell viewers something is coming before it is shown, so a film or a survival game can build tension.

FAQs
What is a kangaroo sound effect?
It is a recording of a kangaroo: the springy thump of hopping, hind feet stamping in alarm, guttural coughing grunts, two males boxing, a mob bounding away or a mother clucking to her joey. Kangaroos have small voices, so most of their sound on screen comes from their powerful feet.
Where can I get kangaroo sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the kangaroo sound you want takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact hop or grunt your scene needs. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom kangaroo sound effect?
Describe what the kangaroo is doing and the ground it is on, then generate it. A prompt like "a kangaroo hopping past, heavy rhythmic thumps of its hind feet on dry dirt" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a kangaroo hop, a stamp and a grunt?
A hop is the rhythmic springy thump of a kangaroo on the move; a stamp is a deliberate heavy thud of both hind feet, a warning to the rest of the mob; and a grunt is its throaty voice, a short guttural cough. Hops show movement, stamps show alarm and grunts show mood.
Can I use these kangaroo sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my kangaroo sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the hops are out of time with the picture. Every thump should land on the frame a foot hits the ground, so a hop with its own steady rhythm drifts away from a kangaroo moving at a different pace. Trim and nudge each thump to the landings you see, and it locks to the picture.
