FAQs
What is a mountain sound effect?
It is any sound of being high up: wind on rock, falling stones, footsteps on scree, a distant bird of prey. The effect usually works through the thin, hard texture of stone and cold air.
Where can I get mountain sounds for a video?
Describe the event you need and generate it on Morphic. That beats a continuous mountain recording because you get the rockfall or the footstep on its own, ready to place on a cut.
How do I make a custom mountain sound?
Name one event and the surface it happens on, such as boots on loose scree, then add how heavy or sparse it is. Morphic builds the sound from that physical description.
How is a mountain sound different from mountain wind or a mountain lion?
This page covers events on the rock: stones, boots, ropes and a distant eagle. Wind as a continuous bed and the big cat have their own pages, so this one stays on the hard objects.
Can I use these mountain sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each event is generated for your scene, it is not the same stock rockfall as another channel.
Why does my rockfall sound like gravel poured from a bucket?
The stones are probably too small and too even. Ask for loose rocks tumbling with hard clacks and uneven gaps so a few big pieces stand out over the rattle.
