The moment a letter gets destroyed
A hard rip lands an act of refusal, a contract, a photo, a summons, and carries the same weight in film, motion graphics and games.

Paper Tearing
Every way paper rips, ready to play: a quick single rip, a slow ragged tear, a stiff cardstock crunch, and the zip of a page pulled from a notebook. Describe the one your scene needs and Morphic generates it in seconds.
- Pick the paper and the pace, a violent rip, a slow split, or stiff card giving way in stages
- Cut for your scene alone, so the moment a letter is destroyed never sounds borrowed
- Isolated takes with clean heads and tails, so you can time the rip to the exact frame of the hands
Paper tearing sounds for animation, games, and video edits
Quick rip
One fast pull, over almost as soon as it starts, the decisive version for anger, refusal or a snap decision.
Slow tear
A long, fibrous split you can ride under a held shot, stretching tension for as long as the moment needs.
Cardstock rip
Stiff board resisting and then giving, with a woody crack in it. Right for packaging, box lids and invitations.
Crumple and tear
Two actions in one take: the sheet is bunched, then pulled apart. Messy and human rather than surgical.
Perforated strip
The regular tick-tick of a dotted line separating, familiar from ticket stubs, receipts and cheque books.
Notebook page
A spiral-bound sheet worked loose from its rings, ragged at the edge, for study desks and hurried note passing.

Ways to use a paper tearing sound effect
When a standoff needs one small sound to break it
One slow tear stretches a silent confrontation, giving stage sound design, radio drama and cutscenes a way to hold the pause.

Someone is opening your mail in the next room
An unseen tear from off frame suggests a parcel, a private letter or evidence being handled by someone the audience has not met yet.

FAQs
What is a paper tearing sound effect?
It is the sound paper makes as it is ripped apart, ranging from a quick crisp rip to a long ragged tear. On screen it does a lot with very little: it lands a decision, marks a note being destroyed, and tells the audience the weight of the paper from the sound of the fibres giving.
Where can I get a paper tearing sound for a video?
Generate one rather than search for it. Describing the tear you want takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact weight and speed your scene needs instead of the closest available clip. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom paper tearing sound effect?
Describe the paper, how it tears, and how fast, then generate it. A prompt like "a thin sheet torn cleanly in half in one quick pull" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until the tear fits your cut.
What is the difference between a rip, a tear, and a crumple?
A rip is one fast pull with a sharp start and finish, a tear is slower and more ragged as the fibres give one at a time, and a crumple is the dense crackle of paper crushed rather than split. Picking the wrong one is the most common reason the sound feels off, because each carries a different intent behind the hand.
Can I use these paper tearing sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated rather than pulled from a shared library, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my paper tearing sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the weight of the paper is wrong rather than the timing. A thin sheet ripping under a shot of heavy card reads as fake, because the ear expects the stock to match what it sees. Say the weight and the speed of the pull when you generate it, and the tear lands with far less mixing.
