A chimp pant-hoot rising to a scream, a sharp monkey screech and the dry clack of chattering teeth. Describe the monkey or ape and what it is doing, and Morphic generates the call clean.

  • Describe the exact primate call your scene needs, from a hoot to a whimper
  • A call made for your scene, not a stock jungle clip heard in a hundred other videos
  • Download clean audio and drop it straight onto the frame the animal reacts

Ways to use a primate sound effect

Jolt the audience when something startles the troop

A screech cut on the frame the animals bolt makes a sudden fright land, in a nature documentary, an animated adventure or a game level.

Fill a quiet canopy shot without music

Teeth chatter and the odd squeak keep an empty branch alive between lines of narration, in a wildlife piece or a children's story.

Place the viewer deep in the jungle before the cut

Gibbon whoops over a wide treetop shot tell the audience where they are, in a film, a game map or a podcast intro.

Hint at a troop hidden in the trees

A distant pant-hoot suggests animals the viewer never sees, for a tense trek in a horror film, a game or an audio drama.

FAQs

What is a primate sound effect?
It is any call or body sound a monkey or ape makes: hoots, screeches, chatter, chest thumps and whimpers. Searchers usually want a believable jungle animal without a named character attached.
Where can I get primate sounds for a video?
Describe the call you need and generate it, which is quicker than combing a library for one hoot that fits. Each sound on this page came from the prompt printed beside it, so you can copy one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom primate sound effect?
Say which animal, small monkey or large ape, and what it is doing, then add the texture. A prompt such as "a baby monkey whimpering, soft thin squeaks" gives the model a clear picture and you can reword it until the call fits.
What is the difference between a monkey and an ape sound?
Monkeys tend toward higher chirps, chatter and shrieks, while apes make longer hoots, roars and chest drumming. Naming the size of the animal in the prompt steers the result to the right one.
Can I use these primate sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each call is generated for you, it will not match the stock monkey clip in someone else's video.
Why does my primate sound feel like a person doing an impression?
Add the physical detail that gives it away: raspy edge, breathy huffs, teeth clicks. Size matters too, so state a small monkey or a large ape rather than just "monkey".
