How do I make a snap sound effect?
Name the material and the strain rather than the word snap. Say what is being bent, squeezed or stretched, how thick it is, and whether the break is dry or wet. A generator builds a far better transient from a twig bent past its limit than from a snap.
How do I get a finger snap rather than a click?
Ask for the skin as well as the crack. A finger snap is a fingertip slapping the base of the thumb immediately behind the release, and without that soft second element the result sounds like a clave or a metronome.
Why does my snap disappear once the video is exported?
Because the transient is the first thing compression takes. Ask for a break with a short body behind the crack, not just the crack, so there is something left when the file is encoded and played back on a phone speaker.
