FAQs
What is a tornado siren sound effect?
It is the civil defence alarm sounded to warn a town, a long mechanical wail that rises and falls. This page is the siren itself, with no wind or storm sound mixed in.
Where can I get tornado siren sounds for a video?
Describe how the siren moves and how far away it sounds, then generate it. The six sounds above cover spin-up, held tones and distant wails, each with its prompt shown.
How do I make a custom tornado siren sound?
Say a mechanical siren, add the movement of the tone and the distance, for example "a siren wailing from far away, faint and thin". Generate it and change the distance if needed.
What is the difference between a tornado siren and a tornado sound?
A siren is the human-made alarm, a pure tone with a motor behind it. A tornado sound is the storm: roaring wind and debris, which is a different page.
Can I use these tornado siren sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Every siren is generated for you, so it is not the same alarm that shows up across other videos.
Why does my siren sound like an ambulance?
The tone probably moved too fast. Ask for one slow rise and fall and a mechanical, motor-driven wail, which gives the long sweeping shape of a warning tower.
