Generate sky stock footage in Morphic's AI video generator: a cumulus tower building at ten times speed, or lightning firing inside a storm cell. Layer the plates on Compose.

Cumulus tower boiling upward

A locked wide of one cumulus tower boiling upward at ten times speed, edges curling and dissolving in bright midday sun from the left.

Edit prompt

Storm cell lit from within

A dark night storm cell lit repeatedly from within, each flash of lightning mapping the internal structure before the cloud goes black.

Edit prompt

Cloud deck tearing open

An aerial across a flat low cloud deck with low sun raking the tops while the deck slowly tears open across one area of the frame.

Edit prompt

Altocumulus at blue hour

A locked wide of a stippled altocumulus field at blue hour, the pattern almost static as the colour turns lilac and then drains to grey.

FAQs

Where can I make sky stock footage with AI?
You can generate it in your browser on Morphic. Open the Text to Video tool, name the cloud type, the light and the speed of movement, and the plate generates in minutes. No overnight timelapse rig and no waiting on a forecast.
Which sky plates render most reliably?
Slow, continuous motion holds up best: drifting cirrus, a building cumulus tower, colour draining at blue hour. Lightning is the least predictable, because the flash is a single-frame event and models tend to smear it. Generate several short lightning takes and choose the one with the cleanest strike.
Can I use a generated sky as a replacement plate?
Yes, and it is the most common use. Ask for no ground, no horizon line and no aircraft so the frame is pure sky, then match your original footage by writing in the sun direction and the time of day. A sky whose light comes from the wrong side is the giveaway that no amount of grading fixes.
How do I stop a sky gradient banding after I grade it?
Ask for texture rather than a clean fade. Fine cloud stipple, a haze layer near the horizon, or light grain across the gradient gives the image enough variation to survive a colour push. Perfectly smooth areas are what break into visible steps once you lift the contrast.
How is this different from a stock library subscription?
A library sells finished timelapses at a fixed speed, direction and length, so you cut around what the file does. Generating means you pick the cloud type, the direction of travel and the rate, and produce several takes of the same sky until one sits exactly behind your title.
