How do I draw a carved pumpkin so it looks round?
Draw the ribs as curves that run from the stem down to the base and bunch closer together at the sides. The carved face has to sit on those curves too, so the eyes near the edge should tilt and narrow rather than staying flat. That alone gives the pumpkin volume without shading.
How do I make a Halloween drawing cute rather than frightening?
Round every shape, raise the eyes and shorten the proportions. A wide jaw with small teeth reads friendly, a narrow jaw with long ones does not. Keeping the key high, on white paper with no shadow, does most of the rest.
How do I draw a cobweb that does not look like a net?
Rule the radial threads first from a single anchor point, then hang the spiral between them as sagging curves rather than straight lines. Leave one or two sectors torn open. A perfectly even web reads as a graphic, while a broken sagging one reads as real thread.
What palette works for Halloween drawings?
Orange against near-black is the obvious pair and it works because the contrast is extreme. If you want something less familiar, try deep violet with a cold grey and one warm light source, or keep the drawing to black line on white and let the shapes carry it.
