What makes a drawing easy to trace?
Closed shapes, an even line weight and gaps wide enough to see through paper. Ask for line art only with no shading, no fill and no hatching, because grey tone is what makes a printed sheet hard to follow.
Which line weight should I ask for?
Thick line for children under about six, medium for general practice, and fine line only for detailed work by someone confident. If you are unsure, ask for medium and thicken it on the Canvas afterwards.
How do I print a tracing sheet at the right size?
Download in HD and print at page size with scaling off. Ask for a wide white margin around the subject when you generate it, so nothing important sits near the edge where a printer crops.
Do I need tracing paper or a lightbox?
Neither is essential. A window in daylight works, and so does printing the outline in a pale grey to draw over directly. A lightbox helps if you are tracing onto thicker paper or card.
What are good drawings to trace for a beginner?
Start with subjects built from a few closed shapes: a butterfly, a leaf, a cup, a simple house, a sitting animal in profile. Avoid faces, hands and anything with overlapping detail until the line control is there.
Can I turn my own picture into something traceable?
Yes. Bring the image onto the Canvas and ask for it redrawn as clean line art with no shading or fill, then thicken the outline until it prints clearly. Keep the interior detail low or it stops being traceable.
