Bird sound effects

A single song, a sharp alarm call, or a whole dawn chorus. Describe the species, the time of day, and how many birds are in it, and Morphic builds it.

  • Name the species, the time of day, and how many birds you want
  • Birds written for this place, not the same chorus everyone uses
  • Clean audio you can layer bird by bird

Bird sounds for film, games, and animation

Songbird

0:05

One bird, singing a full phrase with clear rounded notes. A single voice reads as a specific place in a way that a chorus never does.

Dawn chorus

0:05

Dozens of birds at once, dense and layered. It sets the hour more reliably than a sunrise shot, because nothing else in nature sounds like first light.

Alarm call

0:04

Hard, repetitive scolding with no melody in it. Birds do this when something is wrong, so it makes an audience uneasy without anything appearing on screen.

Seagull cry

0:05

Harsh laughing cries with a rasping edge. Two or three of these place a scene on a coast faster and more cheaply than any wide shot.

Hawk screech

0:04

One long descending scream. It reads as open sky and height, and it carries authority that a songbird cannot.

Wing flapping

0:04

A flock taking off all at once. Movement rather than voice, and the sound that makes a scene feel disturbed rather than settled.

Ways to use bird sound effects

Punctuate a cut to outside

A gull or a hawk on the cut sells the change of place before the picture does. Both have enough attack to work as the transition itself.

Let one bird singing hold a still scene

One bird singing gives a still scene something to rest on and stays well clear of dialogue. It works in a game level or an animated short as much as on film.

Tell the audience what time of day it is

A dawn chorus places a scene at first light and a single evening call places it at dusk. Density is the tell: many birds means morning, one means late.

Make a space feel disturbed without showing why

Alarm calls and a flock leaving tell the audience something is wrong, in a shot where nothing has happened yet. It builds tension with no visual cost.

常见问题

What bird sounds can I generate?
Songs, calls, alarm chirps, raptor screeches, water birds, and wingbeats, for any species you can name. Because the sound is generated from your description rather than pulled from a catalogue, you can ask for a species and a behaviour that nobody happened to record together.
How do I make a dawn chorus?
Ask for many birds overlapping rather than a single call, and say it should be continuous and unbroken. Density is the whole effect: a chorus is dozens of voices at slightly different distances, and a prompt naming only one species will give you one bird instead.
How do I stop birdsong competing with dialogue?
Use one bird rather than a chorus, and keep it unhurried with pauses between phrases. A dense bed is constant energy in the same range as speech, whereas a single voice leaves gaps that a line can sit in.
Why does my bird sound come out as the wrong species?
Usually the prompt named the bird but not the shape of the call. Describe the structure as well: how many notes, whether it rises or falls, whether it repeats, and whether it is melodic or harsh. That structure identifies a species far better than the name alone.
Can I layer individual birds over a bed?
Yes, and that is usually the better way to build a scene. Generate the bed and the individual calls separately with no background in either prompt, then place the single birds on top. Keeping them apart lets you move one without disturbing the other.
Can I use these bird sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each one is generated rather than pulled from a shared catalogue, you also avoid the same call turning up in someone else's woodland scene.
