Punctuate a cut with a scratch
A two-second scratch marks an edit point without stopping the track underneath it. It lands hard because every event in it has a sharp front edge.

DJ sound effects
The toolkit a set runs on: scratches, backspins, risers, drops, and stutters. Describe the move you need and Morphic builds it.
- Describe the move: the scratch, the sweep, the drop, the stutter
- Material nobody else is running, rather than a shared sample pack
- Clean audio at full level, ready to drop straight onto a channel
DJ sounds for sets, edits, and game audio
Vinyl scratch
One forward-and-back movement under a hand, gritty and rhythmic. The most recognisable sound in the set, and the one that reads as a DJ with no other context at all.
Backspin
The record wound backwards at speed, pitch climbing as it goes. It reads as a reset, which is why edits use it to throw a scene back to the start.
Riser sweep
Filtered noise climbing with no melody in it, so it fits under any key. Eight seconds is enough to carry a whole build without repeating.
Drop impact
A single deep hit where the build lands. Hard at the front and heavy underneath, so the moment reads even on a system with no subwoofer behind it.
Stutter chop
A tone cut into rapid repeating fragments with hard edges. It reads as a machine doing it rather than a hand, which is exactly the effect.
Downward sweep
The riser in reverse, falling away and darkening. Use it after the drop, where a climbing sweep would build tension you have already spent.

Ways to use DJ sound effects
Fill a build with something other than drums
A noise sweep carries eight seconds of rising tension on its own, in a set or under a game menu, and it never clashes with the key of the track.

Tell a room the energy just changed
A deep impact with a hard front edge resets the register instantly. Everything after it is heard as belonging to a different section.

Imply a hand on the deck you never show
A backspin puts a person behind the turntable in a shot where nobody appears. One gesture is enough to place the whole performance off camera.

常见问题
What sounds does a DJ set actually need?
Five jobs cover most of it: a scratch to mark an edit, a backspin to reset, a riser to build tension, an impact to land the drop, and a stutter to break up a held section. Everything else tends to be a variation on one of those five gestures.
How do I make a DJ sound effect?
Describe the physical movement. Say what is moving, whether the pitch climbs or falls, whether it is a single event or a repeating pattern, and how long it lasts. A generator understands "noise sweeping upward in pitch for eight seconds" far better than it understands "riser".
Why should a riser have no melody in it?
Because a melodic riser only fits tracks in the same key. Filtered noise has no pitch centre, so it sits over anything, which is why the noise sweep is the version that gets used and the tonal one usually does not.
How long should a build be?
Match it to the phrase you are building over, which usually means around eight seconds rather than two. Generate the longer version and trim from the front, since a sweep that starts late never recovers the tension it skipped.
Why does my drop not hit on small speakers?
Because a pure sub-bass impact has nothing above the range a phone speaker can reproduce. Ask for some grit or distortion in the body, which adds harmonics higher up, and the same hit suddenly reads on a laptop as well as a club rig.
Can I use generated DJ sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Generating your own also means the sweep under your build is not the same one shipping in every sample pack on the market.
