# Getting started

Your first hour on Morphic: what the canvas does, how to talk to Copilot, and where your work is stored.

Morphic is a canvas, a chat, and a library that share one file. This section covers what each part does and how they fit together, so you can go from a blank file to a finished shot without hunting for anything.

* [Overview](/docs/getting-started/overview.md): what Morphic is and what you can make with it
* [Canvas](/docs/getting-started/navigating-the-canvas.md): the workspace itself, including the prompt bar, sidebars, and sections
* [Copilot](/docs/getting-started/copilot.md): describe what you want and let Copilot pick the model and run it
* [Dashboard](/docs/getting-started/dashboard.md): projects, files, and chats, and how they relate
* [Assets](/docs/getting-started/assets.md): upload your own material, tag it, and manage it in bulk
* [Contextual search](/docs/getting-started/contextual-search.md): find anything you have made or uploaded
* [FAQs](/docs/getting-started/faqs.md): short answers to the questions new users ask most

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://morphic.com/docs/getting-started.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
