A pencil cracking in two on the frame a character gives up makes the reaction hit, in a comedy, an animated short, a game or a podcast skit.

Questions fréquentes
What is a pencil sound effect?
It is a close recording of a pencil in use: writing, shading, sharpening, tapping, erasing or snapping. The scratch of graphite on paper is one of the most recognisable small sounds there is, so it instantly tells the audience that someone is writing or drawing, even off screen.
Where can I get pencil sounds for a video?
Generate them. Describing the stroke and the paper takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact scratch your close-up needs. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom pencil sound effect?
Describe the pencil, the paper and the stroke, then generate it. A prompt like "a graphite pencil writing on paper in quick handwritten strokes, a soft dry scratching, close and clearly audible" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the hand on screen.
What is the difference between writing, shading and sketching sounds?
Writing is short, separate strokes with tiny pauses between letters, while shading is a fast, even back and forth that barely stops. Sketching sits between them, longer lines with changes of pressure. Picking the right one makes the sound match the movement of the hand.
Can I use these pencil sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my pencil sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the rhythm does not match the hand. Steady shading under someone writing a short note sounds wrong, because the ear expects gaps between words. Trim the sound to the strokes you see, and keep it quiet unless the camera is right over the page.
